Welcome to the INSPIRE Project

INcreasing Security and Protection through Infrastructure REsilienceThe INSPIRE project aims at identifying techniques to enhance the reliability of communications over unreliable and/or insecure links (WAN, wireless), so that critical control loops become possible over a WAN. |
INSPIRE is a two-year small or medium-scale focused research project (STREP)
Project objectives
-
Analysis and modelling of dependencies between critical infrastructures and underlying communication networks
-
Designing and implementing traffic engineering algorithms to provide SCADA traffic with quantitative guarantees
-
Exploiting peer-to-peer overlay routing mechanisms for improving the resilience of SCADA systems
-
Defining a self-reconfigurable architecture for SCADA systems
-
Development of diagnosis and recovery techniques for SCADA systems
Protecting Critical Infrastructures - The Second INSPIRE Project Workshop
21 January 2011
Via Laurentina, 760 Eur Rome, Italy
Critical infrastructures are essential for the
functioning of a society and its
economy. They are often found in industrial production, as well as
energy,
telecommunication, transports, water supply, agriculture, and other
sectors.
Information Infrastructures have become a key building block of
virtually all
Critical Infrastructures (CIs) which are in operation and under
construction
today. As such, Critical Information Infrastructure Protection (CIIP),
i.e. the
design of policies and strategies for guaranteeing resilient (both to
faults and
attacks) operation of Critical Information Infrastructures (CIIs), is
receiving a
growing attention. The objective of this workshop is to present to the
CI
operations stakeholders the results obtained by the INSPIRE ( http://www.inspire-strep.eu/ )
project, aimed at developing novel techniques to protect
communications of SCADA systems which are a core component of CI.
These
techniques allow to harden existing legacy systems, as well as design a
new
generation of systems, more secure and resilient right from
design..
